About Shreya

Where calm meets joy.

I'm Shreya Chugh — a yoga and meditation teacher who believes that stillness doesn't have to be solemn, and that children, teenagers and grown-ups alike deserve practices that feel genuinely good to do. For over a decade I've been teaching breath, movement and meditation across India and around the world, guided by the wisdom of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living.

The journey

How it began

My path started the way many do — not with a plan, but with a moment of transformation. As a young practitioner I experienced firsthand how a simple shift in breath can dissolve a knot of anxiety you didn't even know you were carrying. That moment became a calling.

I trained as a teacher with the Art of Living Foundation and quickly discovered that my deepest joy lay in working with children and teenagers — the age group most people find hardest to reach. Young people are curious, unguarded, and extraordinarily quick to absorb practices when they're offered with lightness. That insight shaped everything I've done since.

Over the years I've taught in classrooms, community halls, retreat centres, army schools and living rooms — adapting the same core breath and awareness practices to fit every setting. Whether the group is six-year-olds doing Utkarsh Yoga or seasoned adults in a Sahaj Samadhi retreat, my intention is always the same: leave you with a tool you'll reach for tomorrow.

Regional director

Serving families at scale

As Regional Director for Art of Living's kids and teens programmes, I oversee the design and delivery of youth workshops — Utkarsh Yoga (ART Excel), Medha Yoga (YES!), and Sri Sri Yoga for Kids — across a region that spans multiple states in India. That means training teachers, partnering with schools, adapting curricula for different age bands, and ensuring every child who walks into a session feels safe, seen and a little bit delighted.

The programmes work because they meet young people where they are. Breath is not a therapy or a discipline — in my classrooms it's a superpower, and the kids treat it that way. I've watched children who couldn't sit still for three minutes settle into ten-minute meditations. I've seen teenagers speak about their emotions with a clarity that amazed their parents. That is the real measure of this work.

Global teaching

Beyond the classroom

Teaching has taken me beyond India to retreats and programmes in the Americas, Europe and South Asia. Every culture brings its own texture — different fears, different humour, different rhythms — but the breath is the same everywhere. Watching a room of strangers settle into shared silence, regardless of language, remains one of the most moving things I know.

Whether I'm leading a Know Your Child workshop for parents in Mumbai, training teachers in Argentina, or guiding an online Sahaj Samadhi cohort from across three continents, I bring the same attentiveness to each room. The details change; the care doesn't.
